Missing our casual date night spot!!! Spoke with management that they had a fire. Did renovations and are dealing with red tape to get approvals to reopen. Or something along those lines. I can't wait!!!!!

I've been coming to Katsu-Ya restaurants for a decade now and I have never had a bad experience. Sometimes I truly wonder what these people are doing to their own food or how they treat staff to claim they receive negative treatment, although I can't speak directly for others, a 10 year run aint half bad! This is my first time stopping by the WeHo location and surprisingly I was able to walk right in at dinner opening to sit at the bar! Front staff, waiters, and the sushi chefs were all fantastic and I enjoyed their servitude. I ordered my usual favorites and a couple new items! Starting off with the crispy rice with spicy tuna, the rice was hot and crispy with the chewy center and topped with the best spicy tuna mixture! Next the honey hand roll, one of my favorite hand rolls anywhere! Next the baked crab cut roll, the best crab roll out there followed by the creamy salmon - truly something special from Katsu-Ya with the softest, freshest salmon! Followed by the salmon belly - the toro of salmon, and my first time having the salmon special topped with fresh avocado, red onion, and sour ponzu - oh so good! I wanted the actual toro for last but there was a slight mix up but that's okay, I loved the fatty, melty, amazing tuna with every bite! Finished off my dinner with an eel, cucumber, avocado roll (this is where the slight mix up happened, I asked for just an eel-cucumber cut roll but was given it with avocado which is an extra charge - luckily I'm okay with it but I'll maybe ask for it to be taken back next time!) Soft eel with a great char wrapped with fresh avocado and crunchy cucumber with the best rice served on every dish! Off to the next Katsu-Ya!

Just walked up to this place and decided to try it out! We were there around 7pm on a Tuesday and got seated in about 5 minutes. They were holding a lot of tables for reservations so I would definitely recommend planning ahead if you have a large party. As for the food, we tried the baked crab hand roll, honey hand roll, cajun salmon roll, and the octopus taster. The rolls were good and I really liked the soy paper. The octopus taster was okay, I'd recommend just getting the tendered octopus since that was the best one. The wait staff was really helpful as we kept adding things and they were always on top of it!

Loved the food! And our server was cool too Haven't had sushi in a while (after an unfortunate incident) and this was a great reintroduction back to yummy sushi. Really enjoyed each dish we tried: - spicy yellowfin tuna: good balance of textures, soft to crunchy
